Day trip to the Danakil Depression
Early in the morning, fly to the Northern part of Ethiopia. Landing to Hamed Ela air stip built by Allana Potash’s Mine Concessions. Four Wheel Drive Land Cruisers will pick you up from the airstrip; drive toward Dallol start your visit with the sulfur springs which are full of eye-catching colors. You will be looking at the camel caravans on your way to the salt mining area.

Return to the aircraft after lunch and fly over ERta Ale for beautiful pictures and return to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport at the end of the afternoon. Erta Ale is the most active volcano in Ethiopia, and for the past year, it has been visited by thousands of tourists every month.

Daily trip Dallol Danakil depression – Day trip from Mekele to Mekele – Dallol 04:00 AM – 05:00 PM
You will set off early in the morning 04:00 AM towards Dallol- via Berhale . You pass through a small town of Berhale where the camel caravan stops before they proceed to the northern highlands. En route you see many long camel caravans coming to the salt mine and others going out of the Danakil with their salt loaded camels.
The colorful landscapes formed by volcanic activity and iron-rich minerals that come straight from the core of our planet are like nothing you have seen before. Drive to Ragad (Asebo), the place where the localities are mining salt. Visit the activity of breaking the salt from the ground, cutting into rectangular pieces and loading on camels. You will visit the local Afar and Tigrian people who are farming salt from the dry lake. They spend all day working in the open sun at temperatures that often reach more 50 degrees Celcius (122°F). The Danakil Depression is the hottest place on earth.
Because the hot spots under the earth change frequently, this entire area changes its appearance every couple of weeks.
In addition to the beauty of the colorful Dallol sulfur fields, you also will stop by this incredible whole in the salt crust of the lake and Potash Lake.

Debre Zeit/Mt. Zuquala / in partner with Liesak Resort
Depart from Addis for a short drive to Debre Zeit, home to several crater lakes and a popular weekend getaway spot for Addis Ababa residents. You can spend the day visiting the lakes or doing some light hiking (circling Lake Hora takes 1 ½ hour). The area is very popular for bird-watching. There are several lake-side establishments for lunch and even a spa.
Overnight in Debre Zeit at Liesak Resort
After breakfast, depart for a visit to Mt. Zuqualla, an extinct volcano that offers beautiful views of the surrounding areas. Here you can visit the monastery of Mt. Zuqualla Maryam, which may date back as far as the 4th century. The nearby crater-lake is considered holy by the monks of the monastery. Return to Addis Ababa in the afternoon.

Early in the morning, fly to Bahir Dar.
We will pick you up from the airport and check in to your hotel. Drive to the Blue Nile Falls (32 km from BAhirdar) where you can enjoy the view of the Falls and have a small excursion around the area. Return to Bahirdar and visit the marketplace if time allows it.
Overnight at Abay Minch Lodge or Shimela Lodge
In the morning, take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit the island monasteries, such as those on the Zege Peninsula and Kibran Gabriel (not allowed for women), and the source of the Blue Nile River.
Drive to the airport to catch your flight back to Addis.
